Copaiba essential oil is a distilled oil from an oleoresin called copaiba. This resin is produced as a sap of a tree in South America from the Copaifera genus. Although the resin itself can change color depending on the ratio of resin to essential oil, once the oil is distilled out, it should be pale yellow in color with a slightly bitter taste and an aroma that is reminiscent of the balsam of the tree. Helichrysum Essential Oil

How Do You Know Your Helichrysum Is Good?



One of Young Living Essential Oil’s most scarce and sought after products, helichrysum essential oil, is known for its restorative properties and provides excellent support to the skin, liver, and nervous systems.*
The following paragraphs are excerpts from a letter Dr. David Stewart recently sent to the Young Living Product Marketing Team regarding helichrysum in the marketplace. Thank you to Dr. Stewart for this expert explanation.
How Do You Know Your Helichrysum is Good?

Helichrysum is a universal oil with numerous applications. It is also expensive to produce. Useful oils that are expensive to produce create a temptation on the part of oil suppliers to cheat in various ways. They can take a real oil and dilute it with a colorless, odorless substance. They can extract the oil from a similar plant species that is inexpensive to grow and distill, and then manipulate it into what may appear as a more exotic oil by deleting certain compounds or adding synthetic compounds to imitate the fragrance or taste of the expensive oil they wish to imitate. They may also cut costs in the distillation by doing so at high temperatures and high pressures that significantly reduces the distillation time and, thus, saves labor and fuel. They may also extract some oils by petrochemical solvents which leave toxic traces in the finished oil. All of these shortcuts and deceptions result in oils that may fulfill flavor or fragrance standards, even the AFNOR standard, but that lack the full suite of compounds necessary for the oil to have healing properties.
One could synthesize a pretty good imitation of helichrysum in a laboratory that would closely mimic its fragrance, but contain none of its therapeutic qualities. Just combine the right proportions of synthetic [ingredients] and you would have an oil that, to most people, would smell exactly like helichrysum, but at a fraction of the cost of natural helichrysum. However, a person with a trained nose would not be fooled and would know the difference right away.
Some time ago, Young Living received what was to have been a year’s supply of helichrysum. As soon as Gary Young smelled it, he knew that neryl acetate, the main ingredient, was missing. He reported his analysis to Dr. Sue Chow, the head chemist in the Young Living Testing Laboratory, who did an analysis. Sure enough, Gary was right. There was no neryl acetate.
Gary rejected the shipment and returned it to the supplier. He refused to market a false oil to Young Living distributors, even though no one would have known unless they had an expert nose like Gary’s or a gas chromatograph to analyze it. That shipment was refused even though this meant that Young Living would have to do without helichrysum for an extended period of time. Such is the integrity of Young Living and its founder.
However, that batch of false helichrysum was not wasted. When it went back to its supplier, it was sold to another company who markets it as therapeutic-grade helichrysum. Either that company lacks the technical expertise to recognize a manipulated, non-therapeutic grade oil and has been duped by its wholesaler, or that company knows better but lacks sufficient integrity to refuse to [sell such an oil].
So how do you know your helichrysum is good? Unless you have the nose for it or the advanced laboratory equipment to analyze it, you can’t know. In the end, you can only know the quality of your oil by knowing a supplier who can identify the purity of a therapeutic-grade oil and whom you can trust.
In Young Living we have both the know-how and the integrity. When you buy Young Living Therapeutic Grade helichrysum, you know it is good. Any other brand is anyone’s guess.

Create Your Own Spa Getaway with Homemade Shower Bombs

Create your own spa getaway with these easy-to-make DIY shower bombs! The next time you need a bit of rejuvenation, toss a shower bomb in the bottom of your shower and enjoy the wonderful scent or create a collection of these homemade shower bombs as a gift for someone you love.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup citric acid (available at health food stores or online)
  • 2 Tbsp. water
  • 30+ drops of your favorite aromatic essential oil (see our suggestions below)
Directions:
Mix together the baking soda and citric acid in a medium-size bowl. In a separate small bowl or bottle, mix together water and essential oil. Slowly add the oil-water mixture a few drops at a time into your dry ingredients, stirring well after each addition (a stand mixer works well for this). When ingredients are thoroughly mixed, tightly pack into 2-inch balls using your hands, a stainless steel cake pop mold, or a cookie scoop. Set on a plate to dry. If necessary, pack the balls again more tightly. Allow to dry for 12+ hours before using.
To use, simply place a bomb near your feet under warm running water and enjoy the aromatic experience!

Ingredients
  • ½ cup nonfat plain Greek yogurt
  • 3½ tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon Himalayan pink salt
  • 3 drops Black Pepper Vitality essential oil (or to taste)
  • 16 ounces (about 6¼ cups) premade coleslaw blend or shredded cabbage
Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, combine Greek yogurt, vinegar, sugar, salt, and Black Pepper Vitality and blend until combined.
  2. Place coleslaw blend or cabbage in a large bowl and pour the Greek yogurt dressing mixture over top.
  3. Stir to coat cabbage thoroughly.
  4. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes.
Top with grilled chicken and enjoy this coleslaw as a salad, load onto a BBQ sandwich for a southern twist, or enjoy as a side dish with any of your mealtime favorites!

Glass and Mirror Cleaner
  • 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner
  • 5 drops Citrus Fresh™ essential oil
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 3 cups water
Add all ingredients to a spray bottle and shake well to combine. To use, spray windows and glass surfaces liberally and wipe clean with a lint-free cloth.

Deep Cleaning Scrub
  • 1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner
  • 2–3 tablespoons baking soda
Combine Thieves Household Cleaner and enough baking soda to form a thick paste. Apply mixture with a clean cloth, sponge, or scrubbing brush and scour the surface thoroughly. Let sit for 15 minutes, and rinse everything clean.

Carpet Spot Cleaner
  •  1 capful Thieves Household Cleaner
  • 6 cups water
Mix water and Thieves Household Cleaner in a spray bottle, shaking to combine. To use, lightly spray the spot and blot with a clean white cloth. Repeat as needed.

Wellness: A Practical Approach

Here are a few tips to help in your quest for wellness:

1. Improve Your Intake
  • H2Whoa!: Simply increasing your water intake will help detoxify your body and motivate you to be more conscientious of what else you’re ingesting. Try adding tasty essential oils to your water make it more interesting. Lemon, Lime, and Tangerine are all favorites, but don’t forget Grapefruit, Lavender, and Peppermint! In fact, try making your own Grapefruit-Mint Spritzer to enjoy a great blend of flavors that may make sweets and sugary drinks a little less appealing.
  • Supplements: If NingXia Red® and Core Supplements aren’t already part of your daily regimen, try adding them in the coming year to add an infusion of nutrients and essential oils to your day.

2. Sneak In Some Exercise
  • Take the long way: We keep hearing it because it keeps working! Walk the long way to the bathroom, park farther out in the lot, or take the “bumblebee” approach to your grocery list. A few more steps each day go a long way in the end.
  • Flex: In line at the store, on the couch watching TV, during your shower, or any other time you’re otherwise sedentary, flex your abs for 10 seconds at a time and repeat at least 10 times to tone and strengthen your core.

How you end the day makes all the difference.
Your evening routine can either set you up for a cheerful and fulfilling day or one full of frustration and exhaustion. Here are seven steps you can take to create a successful bedtime routine that will give you more restful nights and more productive days.
  1. Set an alarm for bedtime.
    Try setting an alarm for one hour before you’d like to be settled in bed to remind you that it’s time to step out of your day and start winding down.
  1. Drink up!
    Since you end up going 6–8 hours without any liquid at all, drinking water throughout the day and before you hit the sack is essential to keeping yourself hydrated.
