7 Helpful Habits for a More Productive You
A productive day isn’t just about getting a lot done, it’s about getting the important stuff done—and it doesn’t happen by accident. You need to have an effective plan in place for annihilating that to-do list and finding greater satisfaction in life as a result. Here are some tips and tricks to help you do just that:
Sometimes we’re not productive because we don’t know where to start. Take five minutes the night before or first thing in the morning to prioritize your day and make a clear plan of action. While planning, try diffusing an inspiring blend like Highest Potential™ and make sure to ask yourself: “Will this task get me closer to what I want to achieve?”
Set yourself up for success each day by creating and sticking to a good morning routine. Rise early and eat a healthy breakfast, exercise, or tackle a nagging task. This productive jump-start will set the tone for the rest of your day. Need a little extra help getting out of bed? Try diffusing a bright, sunny scent like Citrus Fresh™ to help make early mornings more pleasant. Check out the YL Blog Recipe tab or Healthy & Fit tab for more ideas to better your morning routine.
If you could get only one task completed today, what would it be? Make that task your No. 1 priority. Time and energy are limited resources, so don’t procrastinate! You don’t want to run out of steam before getting to the things that really matter. Diffuse Brain Power™ essential oil blend to help promote a sense of clarity and focus when you need it most.
Take it one at a time
Multitasking is actually less productive than you might think. Research shows that the brain can only successfully focus on one thing at a time. Give each task your full and undivided attention to get it done as efficiently as possible. Then move on to the next item on your list and do the same.
Make sure to have a plan for dealing with distractions as they come along. For example, take a quick inhale of Surrender™ essential oil blend to help cast off inhibitions that may be limiting your potential. You can also keep an idea book close by to record distracting thoughts and ideas so you can come back to them at the right time.
Focusing on one thing for too long can actually cause you to get less done. Take short, designated breaks to keep your mind fresh and on task. Pushups, meditation, yoga, and even the fresh, rejuvenating aroma of essential oils like En-R-Gee™ or Jade Lemon™ can all help you do a quick reset. Just make sure to set a strict time frame for your break or that brief meditation session could easily turn into a three-hour nap.
Even the best planned days can get turned upside down when life throws a curve ball. Having your list of tasks close by is a great way to readjust and reprioritize when things don’t go as planned. Diffuse a calming oil like Lavender and remember that as long as you’re making the best use of the time that you have available, you are having a productive day. Consult your task list whenever you have free time and select the most appropriate task to complete.
Make sure to also include time to rest and recharge in that busy schedule. Apply Stress Away™ to your wrists and reflect on your day—the parts that worked well and the parts that didn’t. Readjust to continue moving toward being as productive as possible. Not only will this help you get more done, but it’s also a great chance to let your mind unwind and decompress. Take the time to celebrate all you’ve accomplished and reward yourself for the hard work you’ve put in!

3 Tips for Great-Looking Skin
Exfoliate
Your skin is constantly working to regenerate. As this process happens, dead skin cells move to the surface. Buildup of dead skin cells can dull your complexion and suck up the moisture and benefits from your skin care products. As you get older, this process slows, increasing buildup.
That’s where exfoliation comes in. Using a gentle exfoliator one to three times a week removes dead skin, helping your inner beauty shine through. Pay attention to how your skin reacts, though, since over-exfoliation can irritate the skin and cause reddening—you know your skin best!
We love our new Lavender-Oatmeal Bar Soap for gently exfoliating your body with oat bran, leaving your skin feeling soft and supple.
If you prefer using a body gel, try using an exfoliating glove or a gentle salt scrub as part of your shower routine.
Moisturize
Once you’ve exfoliated, give back to your skin with your favorite moisturizer! Moisturizer is the easiest way to get back your glow while helping your skin look and feel softer and smoother.
Moisturize immediately after bathing by patting your skin dry with a towel, locking in moisture. Give the sensitive skin on your face added hydration with our ART® Light Moisturizer or brighten and even the appearance of skin tone with Sheerlumé™. If you already use a facial moisturizer you love but love the benefits of essential oils, try mixing a small amount of Frankincense or Cedarwood to your daily application of liquid foundation to help your skin look dewy all day long.
Increase the moisture in the air of your workspace with a humidifying diffuser like our Dewdrop™,Home, or Bamboo diffusers.
Take care of yourself
Sleep
Your grandmother’s beauty sleep is one of the best ways to rejuvenate your body and skin every single day. The Mayo Clinic has a great resource to see how much sleep you need each night, depending on your age and other factors.
Hydrate
Like the rest of your body, your skin dries out when you aren’t drinking enough water. Ensure you stay hydrated by keeping a reusable, spill-proof water bottle on hand at your desk, running errands, or even around the house. Flavor your water by infusing it with Vitality essential oils and fruit. You’ll love the burst of flavor, and your body will love the hydration!
Eat Healthy
Give your body the nutrients it needs! Research suggests that eating a diet full of antioxidant-rich foods like carrots, apricots, leafy greens, tomatoes, blueberries, legumes, fatty fish, and nuts can help improve your overall health and with it, your skin’s appearance.
This summer, be confident in your own beautiful skin! These easy tips are just a few ways to start, if you haven’t already.

DIY Essential Oil-Infused Dry Shampoo
DIY Essential Oil-Infused Dry Shampoo
- ¼ cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 2 drops Cedarwood essential oil
- 2 drops Rosemary essential oil
- 1 drop Tea Tree essential oil
- 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder, for dark hair only
Directions
- Combine all ingredients.
- Put in a container of your choice, such as an empty salt shaker or baby powder bottle.
- Sprinkle on roots of hair and massage into scalp.
- Leave for 2–3 minutes to absorb hair’s natural oils.
- Brush through hair.
There’s nothing worse than the feeling of dirty, greasy hair, but did you know that washing your hair too often can leave hair prone to dryness and breakage? It’s easy to keep your locks looking lustrous and lifted and extend time between washes by applying a dry shampoo! Using ingredients you already have in your cupboards such as corn starch and baking soda, this DIY Dry Shampoo is free of harsh parabens, dyes, and perfumes that can damage hair and cause breakage. Cornstarch absorbs excess oil, while baking soda and Cedarwood, Rosemary and Tea Tree essential oils make hair smell fresh and support the qualities of a healthy scalp.
You can experiment with your own blend of essential oils to find a scent that works best for you! We love Lavender, Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood, and Peppermint for their wonderful aromas and various skin-care benefits. If you decide to add cocoa for dark hair, try using oils that complement the scent of chocolate like Orange, Peppermint, or Cinnamon.

Frequency
For general immune support, just 1-2 times a day or less is good. I’ve even found that when I use oils right after we’ve been somewhere where I think they’ve picked up germs, they stay well with just 1-2 applications afterwards.

When their immune systems need more support, I apply the oils 2-4 times a day. Essential oils metabolize in the body in 2 1/2 to 3 hours, so you can technically apply that often.

Complete the gift with a bottle of Thieves® essential oil blend to rub on the bottoms of his feet to keep them fresh throughout the day.
USB Diffuser for his vehicle
If Dad’s car, truck, or minivan could use a little freshening up, get him a portable USB diffuserinstead of an overpowering, synthetic air freshener. Pair it with a bottle of his favorite essential oil to make his commute a little better!
Thanks Young Living
